ABOUT: Bits, a sound installation.
In 2019 I had the pleasure of participating in the conceptualization of the Game On project with Smart and Green Design. An exhibition about the history of video games.
The Canal de Isabel II Foundation invited me to design an installation for the Sound section. The installation was located in an exit tunnel where the viewer could interact with the lighting. The sound was composed by Alejandro González and took as its starting point the interpretation and combination of sounds from video games that we all have in our collective memory.
The Canal Foundation hosted the exhibition Game On. The History of Video Games 1972-2020, the largest international exhibition on the history and culture of video games. For the first time in Spain, and in collaboration with the Barbican Centre in London, the exhibition was on display in Madrid from November 29 to May 31 at the exhibition hall on Paseo de la Castellana 214.
Across 2,500 square meters of exhibition space, 15 themed sections explored the fascinating history of video games from the 1960s to the latest creations. Game On was also a “see and play” exhibition, featuring over 150 playable titles, from Mario to Lara Croft and from Pong to Street Fighter.
With a spectacular exhibition design based on sustainability standards, Game On was conceived for the enjoyment of all audiences: gamers, nostalgics, and curious visitors of all ages. The exhibition design is by Smart and Green Design and won the Dezeen Awards Public Vote 2020.
