ABOUT: Crossroads is a look at the constant threads that have defined the nature and history of Álava, a territory with its own distinct personality, built largely by the agreements and practices of its people. This solid foundation has been constantly influenced by the numerous civilizations and cultures that have passed through it, providing a strong base for facing future challenges.
This exhibition delves into the richness of these perspectives, defines the foundations that have guided us to the present moment, and focuses on the crossroads of a moment in which the accumulated experience holds the keys to continue building a prosperous, welcoming, and promising land.
An experience for all the people of Álava, the true protagonists of what is to come, but also for the ever-increasing number of visitors, who will find in it the key to discovering and getting to know a land full of history and potential.
VIDEOMAPPING: The territory of Álava is structured around eight historical routes that have defined its personality, strengths, and unique characteristics. These eight routes, built from a blend of influences and currents, have not only given structure to the society but have also served as conduits for the exchange of diverse influences, shaping a rich and nuanced essence.
These routes have undergone their own evolution over time, forging their own path, and containing the inspiration that has allowed us to respond to the turbulent changes that have occurred throughout the centuries.
This section explores the eight routes defined by historian Isabel Mellén, focusing on the key milestones that have shaped their development. Together, these routes form the fabric that gives meaning to the Territory.
