BILLIONS OF OPERATIONS PER SECOND

DATE: 2023
COLLABORATORS: Barcelona Supercomputing Center
ABOUT: Billions of Operations per Second is an audiovisual installation I designed in collaboration with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) for the exhibition “Codes and Algorithms: Meaning in a Calculated World,” which can be seen at the Espacio Fundación Telefónica in Madrid.
One of the greatest contributions of algorithms and artificial intelligence is the generation of knowledge, by finding solutions that would otherwise take years to solve or decipher. Simulation is an incredibly powerful tool that allows us to better understand the world around us, from knowing the effects of a medicine without administering it to anticipating climate change. This is now possible thanks to supercomputing. The exhibition includes this piece, which illustrates how the processing of enormous amounts of data is accelerating scientific research.
This installation was also exhibited at IMAL and CCCB

The exhibition was designed by Smart and Green Design. Watch the video of the full exhibition here.
